Before the Ceremony

How far in advance should we book our ceremony?

As soon as you have your date! Most couples book one to three months in advance, but I’ll always do my best to accommodate short-notice elopements and weekday ceremonies.

Do we need to meet with you before the wedding?

It’s not required, but I love connecting beforehand — whether in person, over the phone, or through email. It helps me understand your story and the tone you want for your ceremony.

Can you help us write our vows?

Absolutely. Many couples want to say something personal but don’t know where to start. I offer gentle guidance and vow coaching if you’d like a little help finding the right words.

What kind of ceremonies do you perform?

All kinds. I focus on crafting ceremonies that reflect who you are — spiritual, non-religious, traditional, modern, or simple and civil.

Can we include our own readings, traditions, or unity rituals?

Of course! I love weaving meaningful touches into your ceremony, from readings and blessings to handfastings and family rituals.

How long does a typical ceremony last?

Most ceremonies run between 10 and 20 minutes — short and sweet, but full of meaning.

Do you attend the rehearsal?

Yes, if you’d like. Rehearsal attendance is available as an add-on and helps everyone feel comfortable before the big day.

Do you offer vow renewals?

Yes! Vow renewals are some of my favorite celebrations — they carry such depth and tenderness. I offer both simple and fully personalized ceremonies.

What happens if we need to reschedule?

Life happens. If your date changes, I’ll do everything I can to adjust and honor your new plans. Deposits can be applied to your rescheduled date, depending on availability.

Legal Details

Do we need to get our marriage license before the ceremony?

Yes. You’ll need to apply for and receive your marriage license before the wedding day. I can’t perform the ceremony without it.

Where do we get a marriage license in Texas?

You can apply at any Texas county clerk’s office. Both parties must be present with valid photo ID.

How long is the marriage license valid once we get it?

Your Texas marriage license is valid for 90 days after it’s issued.

How long do we have to wait after getting our license before we can marry?

There’s a 72-hour waiting period between receiving your license and your ceremony. (Active military and certain couples can have this waived.)

What do we need to bring on the wedding day?

Bring your marriage license, valid photo ID, and any items for rituals or readings. I’ll take care of the rest.

Do you file the marriage license after the ceremony?

Yes — I’ll sign, complete, and return your marriage license to the county clerk’s office for official recording.

How long does it take to receive our official marriage certificate?

Once filed, most counties mail your certified marriage certificate within 2–4 weeks. You can also request copies directly from the clerk’s office later.

Can you notarize our premarital agreement or other documents?

Yes, I’m a commissioned Texas notary and can notarize related documents such as premarital or name change forms.

Ceremony Customization

Can we choose our own ceremony wording?

Yes — and I encourage it! You’ll have the option to review and adjust your ceremony script until it feels completely like “you.”

Can you perform themed or personalized ceremonies?

Absolutely. Whether it’s boho, vintage, starlit, or simple and modern, I’ll adapt to your theme with joy.

Can we include friends or family in the ceremony?

Yes! Many couples like to involve loved ones through readings, blessings, or unity rituals. It adds a beautiful personal touch.

Do you offer bilingual or dual-language ceremonies?

I can include brief phrases or passages in another language if provided, and I’m happy to collaborate with bilingual readers or translators to make your ceremony inclusive.

Will you wear specific attire to match our theme or colors?

I’m happy to coordinate my attire with your color palette or aesthetic. Whether classic, natural, or formal, I’ll ensure my look complements your day.

Can you provide a microphone or sound system if needed?

I don’t currently provide sound equipment, but I can easily coordinate with your DJ, planner, or venue team to make sure my voice carries clearly.

Day-of & Logistics

How early do you arrive on the wedding day?

I typically arrive 20–30 minutes early to check in, review details, and make sure everything runs smoothly.

What if we’re running late?

Don’t worry — weddings have their own rhythm! I’ll stay flexible and calm, as long as the delay doesn’t overlap with another ceremony.

What happens in case of bad weather for outdoor ceremonies?

If you’re planning an outdoor wedding, we’ll discuss a backup plan ahead of time so there’s no stress on the day of.

Do you travel outside of New Braunfels?

Yes! I serve the greater Hill Country area and beyond. Travel fees vary depending on distance, but I’m always open to a beautiful drive for a beautiful day.

Is there a mileage fee for travel?

Travel within New Braunfels is included. Beyond that, it’s $1 per mile (round trip) after the first 30 miles.

What forms of payment do you accept on the day of the ceremony?

I accept cash, credit card, Zelle, Venmo, and Apple Pay. A 50% deposit is due at booking, and the remainder can be paid anytime up to one week before your ceremony.

After the Ceremony

Will we receive a keepsake copy of our ceremony?

Yes — couples who choose a personalized ceremony will receive a printed keepsake version of their script to treasure and revisit.

How do we get certified copies of our marriage license later?

Once your license is filed, you can request certified copies from the county clerk’s office where it was recorded. Many counties also offer online requests.

Can we request a letter or certificate for name change purposes?

Yes. I can provide a signed officiant letter confirming your ceremony and filing date if your name-change paperwork requires it.

Do you offer anniversary or renewal ceremonies?

I do — and they’re some of my favorite moments to officiate. Whether it’s one year or fifty, a vow renewal is a beautiful way to celebrate your journey together.
